Rule Book for Students (2026 Edition)

1. INTRODUCTION

Back to Roots – Gita Hackathon Contest is a national-level online competition designed to help students understand, interpret, and apply the timeless wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita to modern-day, real-life situations.

The contest encourages value-based thinking, ethical decision-making, clarity of purpose, and leadership qualities, while presenting Gita teachings in a contemporary and engaging format.

What Students Receive (Free of Cost)

All registered participants will receive:

  • 📖 Bhagavad Gita (Physical Copy)
  • 📘 Gita Hacks Book (Official course material for the competition)
  • 📝 Participation Certificate

Registration is completely FREE.

2. ELIGIBILITY

  • The competition is open to students from Class 6 to Class 12.
  • Students must participate individually.
  • The contest will be conducted entirely online.

3. COMPETITION STRUCTURE

The contest consists of two online rounds, both conducted in an open-book format.

📅 Important Timeline

  • Registration Period: 23 February 2026 – 30 April 2026
  • Round 1 (Prelims): 31 May 2026 (online)
  • Round 2 (Finals): 14 June 2026 (offline)

4. ROUND DETAILS

🔹 Round 1: Prelims

  • Mode: Online
  • Question Type: MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) with negative markings
  • Nature: Scenario-based application
  • Syllabus: Gita Hacks Book
  • Difficulty Level: Moderate
  • Duration: 60–90 minutes

Students will answer questions that test their ability to interpret Gita principles and apply them to real-life situations.

🔹 Round 2: Finals (Mains)

  • Mode: Offline
  • Question Type: MCQ (Advanced analytical scenarios) with negative markings
  • Syllabus: Gita Hacks Book
  • Difficulty Level: Advanced
  • Duration: 60–90 minutes

Only qualified students from Round 1 will be invited to participate in the Final Round.

5. REGISTRATION & STUDY MATERIAL

  • Registration is free of cost.
  • After successful registration, students will receive:

    1. Bhagavad Gita (Physical copy)
    2. Gita Hacks Book (Official course material)
  • Students must ensure that all personal, school, and contact details are accurate.


6. EXAM RULES (OPEN BOOK FORMAT)

Permitted Resources

  • Gita Hacks Book
  • Bhagavad Gita
  • Personal handwritten notes

✘ Strictly Not Allowed

  • Searching answers on Google or any websites
  • Using AI tools or digital assistants
  • Assistance from parents, teachers, or friends
  • Frequent tab switching
  • Use of social media or messaging applications during the exam

⚠️ Any violation of these rules may result in immediate disqualification.

7. EXAM PLATFORM & TECHNICAL GUIDELINES

  • Exam link will be shared via Email.
  • Students must log in 10–15 minutes before the exam start time.
  • A stable internet connection is mandatory.
  • Permitted devices: Laptop / Desktop / Tablet / Mobile
  • The exam is timer-based; once the time ends, submissions will close automatically.
  • Frequent tab switching may lead to auto-logout.
  • Webcam monitoring may be enabled to ensure exam integrity.
  • In case of technical difficulties, students must contact support immediately.

8. QUESTION PATTERN

All questions are MCQ-based and may include:

  • Real-life scenario analysis
  • Selection of the most appropriate Gita teaching
  • Identification of principles from Gita Hacks
  • Values-based and ethical decision-making questions

9. EVALUATION & QUALIFICATION CRITERIA

🔍 Evaluation Parameters

  • Number of correct answers
  • Accuracy and clarity of responses
  • Time taken (used as a tie-breaker, if required)
  • Attempted vs. unattempted questions
  • System-generated ranking

🎯 Qualification from Round 1 to Round 2

  • Only the Top 100 students from Round 1 (Prelims) will qualify for Round 2 (Finals).
  • Rankings will be system-generated and verified by the organising committee.
  • Qualified students will be notified officially via Email and/or WhatsApp.
  • The qualification list will be final and non-negotiable.
  • No requests for re-evaluation or reconsideration will be entertained.

10. PRIZES & AWARDS

Prizes will be awarded separately for different student categories, wherever applicable.

  • 2nd Prize: Lenovo IdeaTab
  • 3rd Prize: Samsung Galaxy Tab 

🎁 Additional Awards#

  • 4th – 10th Rank: One Plus Earbuds worth Rs 3000 
  • 11th – 20th Rank: Boat Bluetooth Speakers worth Rs 1000 
  • Top 50 Students: School Bags
  • Top 100 Students: Medals

🎓 All participants, whether in Prelims or Finals, will receive a Participation Certificate.


🎯 Timeline for prize Distribution We may take approx. 15-45 days from the date of test to declare results and distribute the prizes

11. CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Students must maintain honesty, discipline, and integrity.
  • Any form of unfair practice is strictly prohibited.
  • Parents or guardians must not assist students during the exam.
  • Students must appear for the exam on their own device.
  • The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any student found violating rules.
  • All decisions taken by The Life School Jury shall be final and binding. No correspondence or representation shall be entertained, and decisions cannot be challenged or contested beyond the organizing committee.

12. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum internet speed: 5 Mbps
  • Updated browser: Chrome / Safari / Edge
  • Functional camera and microphone (if required)
  • Fully charged device or continuous power supply
